What we pack EVERY cruise

I overpack every cruise, it’s inevitable, but I’m working on it. Since we’re flying to our next two cruises, it’s something I’m going to have to fix really soon. Regardless, here’s a list of some items that we bring on EVERY cruise.

Cruise ship luggage tag protectors

Luggage Tag Protectors

I love printing out our cruise luggage tags and putting them into these sleek tag protectors. It’s one of the final steps that lets me know we’re going on a cruise soon!

Cruise ship travel power strip without surge protector

Travel Power Strip (no surge protector)

Cruise ship staterooms are notorious for not having enough outlets (though newer ships are getting better about this). This one gives three extra 3-prong outlets plus two USB outlets, great for all our extra electronic devices! Cruise ships do not allow power strips with surge protectors due to the chance the surge protector will overload the circuit and potentially cause a fire. So, if you bring one make sure it does not have a surge protector like this one.

Battery operated electric tea lights

Electric Tea Lights

The bathroom light in the middle of the night is blindingly bright, so I put a couple of these battery operated electric tea lights in the bathroom. They give off just enough light to see where we’re going without completely waking us up. We’ve also used these out on our balcony at night. A few on the balcony table give off a nice romantic light.

Heavy duty magnetic hooks

Magnetic Hooks

Since most cruise stateroom doors and walls are magnetic, these are great to have around. We’ve used them to hold up hats, lanyards, door decorations, excursion tickets and the cruise ship’s daily activities list.

Febreze small spaces air freshener

Air Freshener

Small bathrooms sometimes need a little extra help to stay smelling fresh. I put one of these in the corner on a shelf in the bathroom at the beginning of the cruise and it keeps the whole stateroom smelling nice.

Binder

To keep everything organized and in one spot, I put all our vacation information in a 3-ring binder. I print out flight information, hotel confirmation, specialty dining reservations, boarding passes, tour confirmations, travel insurance and any other information or receipt that I may need to reference. I put dividers with pockets and tabs to keep things separated. The pockets give me space to add things from the cruise ship or tours.

Jennifer

Jennifer fell in love with cruising in 2002 on the Royal Caribbean Sovereign of the Seas, but she didn’t become obsessed until planning her honeymoon cruise with Jay on the Carnival Freedom in 2013. She loves how cruising provides a different vacation for everyone on board, whether it’s relaxing or action-packed. Jennifer has visited the Bahamas, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and Europe during 20+ cruises on 8 cruise lines. When not cruising or planning their next one, she likes to read and love on their dog, Kenzi.
