Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas

3 Night Bahamas Cruise - January 5, 2018

Sunset over the ocean with the Miami, Florida skyline

Some cruise-loving friends invited us to go on a cruise with them, and with zero cruises planned for 2018, how could we say no?! This cruise was very different for us, because we decided to just go with the flow and not plan anything, and just went along with whatever our friends were doing. We still had so much fun!

My first two cruises were with Royal Caribbean, but this was Jay’s first time cruising with them. We booked an oceanview cabin across from our friends’ inside rooms, only because there were no inside rooms open near them. Time for the cruise countdown to begin!

Itinerary

Friday - Jan 5 - Miami, FL

Saturday - Jan 6 - CocoCay, Bahamas

Sunday - Jan 7 - Nassau, Bahamas

Monday - Jan 8 - Miami, FL

Embarkation Day

Our whole group pre-purchased the Deluxe Beverage Package. Once we boarded the Enchantment of the Seas, we stopped by a bar and toasted to the cruise ahead! We enjoyed lunch in the buffet and explored the ship before we had to go to our Muster Drill. We watched sailaway from an open deck and waved goodbye to Miami. After unpacking and freshening up, we enjoyed some live music in the Centrum. Then we all had dinner in the My Fair Lady dining room.

After dinner we went to the Schooner Bar for piano bar entertainment with Joe Thomas. We were having so much fun, but we left around 11 to head to the Orpheum Theater for some late night adult comedy featuring Carl Banks.

CocoCay Sea Day

Today was supposed to be a stop at Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay. Unfortunately, due to high winds the Captain knew it was going to be difficult for the tender boats, so he decided to make today a sea day. We spent most of our day relaxing in the adults only Solarium.

For formal night, we all decided to make reservations for dinner at Chop’s Grille, the onboard steakhouse specialty restaurant. We had a wonderful meal, laughing and talking with our friends over delicious steak and wine. The Captain surprised us by docking early in Nassau and he let us know we could get off the ship this evening. Our group decided to stay on the ship. We ended our night at the After Hours Dance Party in the Viking Crown Lounge.

Nassau, Bahamas

None of us had plans for Nassau, so a few of us decided to get off and go check out Pirate Republic Brewing Company, which is the first production craft brewery in The Bahamas. We got a couple flights of beer so we could taste a variety of what they offer. They also had an extensive cocktail menu.

Our friends decided to head back to the ship, but I really wanted to climb the Queen’s Staircase so we took a detour. After climbing the 66 steps named in honor of Queen Victoria, we headed back to the Enchantment of the Seas and met back up with our friends.

We had dinner in the My Fair Lady dining room. After dinner, we headed to the Spotlight Lounge for Karaoke, The Battle of the Sexes, and The Quest. We’ve never had so much fun nor laughed harder. The best part, our team won! We decided to celebrate our win in the casino where we ended our night.

Miami, FL

And just like that, our cruise was over, and we’re back home in South Florida. We said goodbye to our friends and disembarked the ship quickly to head into work! Something I don’t advise, but hey you do what you have to do to go on a cruise with your friends!

Since the rest of the year is full with friends’ weddings we don’t have any future cruises booked yet, but cruises sailing to Cuba sure do look intriguing. Until next time, happy cruising!

Jennifer

Jennifer fell in love with cruising in 2002 on the Royal Caribbean Sovereign of the Seas, but she didn’t become obsessed until planning her honeymoon cruise with Jay on the Carnival Freedom in 2013. She loves how cruising provides a different vacation for everyone on board, whether it’s relaxing or action-packed. Jennifer has visited the Bahamas, Mexico, the Caribbean, South America and Europe during 20+ cruises on 8 cruise lines. When not cruising or planning their next one, she likes to read and love on their dog, Kenzi.
